WHY YOU Should Not Expect THESE Things From Others!

We expect a lot from life and from our fellow human beings. What we tend to forget: Everyone lives their own life, has personal obligations to fulfill, and probably doesn't put us first on their list of priorities. The most important truth that you have to keep in mind in this context: Nobody owes us anything. Neither the world, nor fate, nor life, nor the people in it. We have to forge our own happiness.

Nobody will come to save us or lead us to the promised land of carefree joy. We can spare ourselves many bitter disappointments if we abandon a certain expectation of others. What the outside world owes us is respect and acceptance. But that's where the obligatory program stops. The following 8 things we would like to introduce to you in this article are things you should not rely on from others in the future.

1. The ability to read your mind

Clairvoyance could be practical – or then again not at all. Do we really want to know what's going on in the minds of those around us? Conversely, many still expect with childlike insistence that their contemporaries can anticipate their wants and needs or read them like a book. The key word here, which unfortunately comes up far too short, is communication.

We need to talk to each other in order to understand each other better in every respect. We take a lot for granted, and some things we just make up as we go along. What a person really thinks, feels and, above all, wants, therefore falls by the wayside far too often. This is how misunderstandings and disputes arise, which can escalate into downright hostility.

Anger builds up about the ignorance of our environment and its inability to respond better to our needs. But we do not ask ourselves the question of all questions: Have we ever really formulated them clearly? No one who does not appear on television can be clairvoyant. Yes, anyone can speculate and give free rein to his or her imagination. But you will seldom arrive at the right result.

2. Your own values and morals

It speaks well of you if you are one of those well-organized people who pay their bills on time, never jaywalk, and show consideration for others every day. But the sad truth is: not all people are like that, on the contrary. We would need neither a judiciary nor an executive if all citizens of the earth obeyed the laws, both written and unwritten.

So the sooner you get rid of the idea that your high standards for yourself and your environment are the measure of all things, the fewer disappointments you will experience. Every day, your approach to life is made up of an infinite number of micro-decisions, which then add up to a good or bad, fulfilled or dead life.

If things are going as well for you as you are handling them, then keep it up. But realize sooner rather than later that there is more creative chaos on this planet than organizational talent and reliability.

3. Consent across the board

It's never going to happen that everyone agrees with you all the time. And they don't have to. Everyone has the right to form their own opinion and make it known. If you encounter a headwind, consider it valuable input for a discussion. A different point of view, even if we don't like it, can be very helpful. Sometimes a different opinion simply strengthens us in our own. We don’t have to like all opinions, but we do have to let them stand.

4. To always be happy and in a good mood

Simple question, simple answer: are you a happy-go-lucky camper every day of your life, wanting to hug and love the whole world? Probably not. No one is a permanent resident of the sunny side. Remember that everyone has to deal with worries, fears and challenges. Unfortunately, there is no exception to this rule. So when you meet people who don't have sunshine in their hearts and smiles on their faces, don't take it too hard on them. Everyone has bad days.

5. To stay forever

People who come into our lives have different jobs to do. Some become our teachers, others our friends or even our lovers. All these forms of relationship are important and good for us, otherwise they would not happen. However, there is no guarantee certificate for any of them. We cannot force anyone to stay with us.

When the time comes and a person's life or soul plan calls for a new chapter, it must be followed and those who do not leave us or move on will one day die. Parting is a fixed star in our existence. The sooner we keep this unalterable fact in mind, the better.

6. To change for you

There is only one person you can truly change: Yourself. What you can also tweak and touch up is your attitude and how you view some things. You can, of course, adjust your expectations downward until a relationship that doesn't deserve the word fits in halfway. Or you bend and twist the facts so far that they fit into your desired image. Many things are possible here, but one thing is not: changing other people in our favor.

7. More respect than you are willing to give

Respect is a good example of how some mechanisms in life only function if both sides work on them. So think carefully about whether someone really owes you respect by being willing to give little or none. People notice when we hold them in low esteem or don't see eye-to-eye with us. Not even the Pope or the Queen can have double standards here. Respect is not negotiable.

8. Applause, applause

Not every fellow human being has to like us or think we are good. We will always cause frowns and disapproval from some, no matter how hard we try. Speaking of effort, this will do you more harm than good. Trying to force recognition and praise is pathetic and makes us look like desperate supplicants with no backbone.

Take comfort in the thought that often there is only envy, resentment and jealousy behind openly displayed rejection. Perhaps your life represents everything these people would dream of.

Today’s Conclusion: Reality versus wishful thinking

The world is colorful and the people who live in it can't be beat for versatility. We meet many different personalities in the course of our lives. Some have come to stay, others just to teach us a lesson. There are as many ideas about the world as there are people in it.

The world, on the other hand, we have only one, and on this one we have to get along with each other. Anyone who has successfully managed to declare tolerance to be the supreme commandment of his existence will neither be disappointed nor hurt too much. That's it for today.
