Stop It Right Now, Before It’s Too Late!

Stop it now, before it's too late. Unfortunately, we don't appreciate life until we are in danger of losing it or massive strokes of fate remind us that everything can change from one day to the next. We can be content and happy one moment, the next moment this life as we knew it can be over. Instead of being grateful for it every day and appreciating the greatest gift of all, we squander it non-stop.

We follow the wrong goals and ideals or none at all. We literally rush ourselves to death in pursuit of recognition and success or take root in our comfort zone. How would you like to have lived at the end of your days? Ask yourself this question as often as possible. There's nothing worse than realizing you've wasted your life when it's already too late to change course. In this article, we would like to show you some points that are a definite waste of your precious life energy.

1. Your fears are stronger than your desires.

The biggest hurdles that prevent us from moving forward are our fears. We can't help but succumb to their paralyzing influence, it's in our nature. But we have it just as much in our hands to fight against them thanks to our willpower. For if we give up and let fears win, we have truly lost. We owe many of these blockades to our childhood.

Role modeling, upbringing, false beliefs and convictions from that time still pave our thinking and obstruct our free view of how things could be if these fears did not rule over us. Only when the desire to change or take a bold step forward is greater than the fear of failure will we be able to do so. Until then, we are their prisoner and defenseless to their power over us.

2. Others are satisfied, you are not.

Again, mountains of debt from childhood lurk, mercilessly crushing us for life unless we do something about them. Meeting the expectations of others is not what our lives should be about. We should be free to decide what we want to make of it. If chronic dissatisfaction is plaguing you and you can't immediately see the reason for it, ask yourself if you are living vicariously through someone else.

Are you truly happy with your job? And yes, happiness is the goal of work, not paying bills. How is your personal life? Did you follow the supposed rules and do everything people expected you to do? Of course, you won't be able to change everything on the spur of the moment. But the one or other course correction in your favor will work in your favor somehow.

3. You’re not living in the present.

Most people waste their lives mourning the past or dreaming about the future. Neither is life, neither is purposeful in becoming a happy person. Life is what happens to us every day, but it is also what we risk missing every day by engaging in nostalgia or building castles in the air. Try to be mindful every day and give each situation the attention it deserves. Otherwise, we will not only miss out on everyday life: we will also miss out on many beautiful moments, joy, fun and special things by being only half-hearted about them.

4. Thinking instead of living.

If you think too much about life, you unfortunately miss it in real time. Making plans or tweaking ideas for the future is not a bad thing, on the contrary. But those who spend the majority of their time prioritizing theory over lived practice will fatally miss out on the majority of their lifetime. We should not underestimate the power of our thoughts. They lead us into galaxies that, used positively, can accomplish incredible things. However, if we are trapped in a gloomy mental cinema, we build a mental dungeon from which there will eventually be no escape.

5. Where's the fun in that?

This is a question we ask ourselves far too rarely as adults. When we were children, teenagers, interns or students, we clearly had more fun in life. Who says this is forbidden just because we now have more responsibility and less free time than before? The fun factor must once again become a fixed part of our everyday lives. How we do that is up to each of us.

Dancing and partying all night will probably not be as much fun as it used to be. In the long run, this would not be advisable after a certain age. But spending time together with other people who are on our wavelength is a good start if we want more joy to fill our days. A new hobby can also help to boost the fun factor. A sport, an instrument or a cooking class: the sky's the limit here.

6. Work, work, nothing but work.

The number one fun killer is certainly the pursuit of professional success. Unfortunately, this is also the number one relationship killer and poses a long-term threat to our health. The current of "downshifting" from the USA has not quite reached all latitudes yet, but we are increasingly coming to the realization that less work can actually make for a better form of living. Realigning the work-life balance in favor of life is a trend that should be given a chance.

7. Your aura is negative.

We all know people who literally wrap themselves in a cloak of negativity as soon as they leave the house. The eternal victims, complainers and despairers, who can't leave a good mark on anything or anyone, are not only exhausting to those around them. They do the greatest damage to themselves and their quality of life. Every negative thought is like a pinprick in our soul. Every spiteful, nasty word is like a stone we throw at ourselves.

A destructive attitude towards life leads to loneliness and can even make you chronically ill. If you tend to always see everything in black and prefer to focus on the bad and unpleasant, you need to stop. You are mainly harming yourself. Your fellow men will avoid you like the plague. You yourself will be more and more the prisoner of your highly self-constructed downward spiral. You are both a victim and perpetrator in equal parts, but you are certainly not alive.

Today’s Conclusion:

Take control of your life. Victim of circumstance, childhood, tradition, trauma, or dream: all these factors are part of us, but they do not define who we are. No one can tell us how to live. No one should prevent us from realizing our dreams and plans, and this includes ourselves. The good news at this point is that we are the captain on this ship. So we determine the voyage and no one else.
